Description
Silver Creek Construction, Inc. is seeking experienced and highly motivated people to join our team. We are currently looking to fill the position of Laborer for our Heavy Highway construction company concentrating in concrete building and repaving. Laborer’s will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor on roadway, highway, bridges, and heavy construction projects. This position requires travel. Majority of our projects occur within the state of Texas, but occasionally some out of state projects arise. Silver Creek Construction, Inc. offers competitive wages, out-of-town accommodations, and daily per diem for overnight stays.

Laborer classifications include but are not limited to Common Laborer, Utility Laborer, Concrete Finisher. Starting Pay depends on experience.

All tools and Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
ā
Primary Responsibilities
Performs any combination of the following duties on construction projects by transferring from one task to another, where the demands require a worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision.
Levels earth to fine grade specifications using a pick and a shovel. Spray materials such as water and curing compound. Operate small machinery including but not limited to water pumps, portable electric generators, portable sprayers, power and hand tools. Mix, pour, and spread concrete. Clean and seal joints. Assist in traffic control activities and work zone barricade placement.

Minimum of 1 years experience in Heavy Highway Construction or similar industries is required

Description

Provide general and preventative maintenance and services to Light, Medium, and Heavy Vehicles and Equipment.

Load and Unload deliveries using a combination of the front-end wheel loader, forklift, or skid-steer.
-
Miscellaneous activities in a Shop Facility and On-site of Heavy Highway Construction projects.
Will be assisting in Troubleshooting, Install, remove, rebuild, replace, repair, in-frame, test, adjust, PM service, welding repair, and fabrication of all classifications of vehicles and equipment.
Salary Position - Starting pay $45,000-60,000 annually based on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Receives written or oral instructions from supervisor regarding equipment to be serviced.

Troubleshoot, rebuilds, replaces and repairs, tires, brakes, drive train, power train, electrical systems, hydraulic, emissions system, etc..

Weld and fabricate as needed.

Inspects, clean, maintain, and lubricates equipment.

Participate and complete training in operation of new equipment.

Pick up parts and equipment as needed.

1 Years Experience with Light, Medium, and or Heavy Trucks/Equipment Maintenance and Repair (Gas and Diesel) Preferred but not required.

Trade School in Diesel Tech, Auto Tech, or Apprentice Program Preferred but not required

Clean MVR, must hold a valid driver license, CDL preferred but not required.

This position requires travel. Majority of our projects occur within the state of Texas, but occasionally some out of state projects arise. Pay Range
Compensation is based on experience, but is expected to start at $85,000.
ā
Schedule
Typically Monday through Friday working as many hours as necessary to successfully perform the job. Some nights and weekends are required.
ā
Objective
Oversee duties involving heavy highway construction activities including structures, earthwork, and concrete repair/paving. Manage skilled craftsmen on exciting and challenging construction projects. Work closely with project management while ensuring safety, fiscal responsibility, productivity, and quality.
ā
Primary Responsibilities
-
Manage new construction, maintenance, and repair of structures by completing projects on time and within budget. Structures include but are not limited to bridges, retaining walls, barrier walls, cable fence, and other heavy highway and airfield projects.

Provide expert insight and solutions to unique problems and challenges related to construction activities and cost control.
-
Monitor the schedule by regularly reviewing milestones and providing consistent solutions to a wide variety of challenges and multiple, simultaneous projects. Communicate and collaborate with management for schedule changes.
-
Provide oversight to the work planning process including upcoming machinery needs, personnel requirements, road closures, and work in progress updates.
-
Review work schedules, provide solutions for potential time delays, and implement strategies to meet milestones on time.
-
Monitor work production and budget continuously while providing solutions to keep costs down and construction activities moving in the right direction.
-
Work with an experienced team to share solutions, express concerns, monitor resources, and achieve goals.
-
Interact with outside clients and subcontractors by sharing new and relevant information in an effective, professional manner.

Enforce company standards related to work ethics, safety, quality, and other company policies within the work group.

Supervise, manage, and direct the training, development, and work assignments of personnel.
-
Understand and ensure that contractual requirements including local, state, and federal regulations are followed.

Monitor and communicate equipment utilization and upcoming needs. Order material and tools as needed.

Provide insight to Project Managers for schedule changes and resource allocation.

Plan and organize crew member activities.

Be a respected leader – gain the respect of others by being fair, honest, reliable, and hard working.

Read and understand prints and project documents related to the construction of heavy highway and civil structures.

Knowledge/Skill Requirement
-
Minimum of 5 years experience in Heavy Highway Construction as a superintendent or senior level foreman.

High School Diploma or GED.
-
Knowledge and practice of safe work practices.
-
Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications using proper grammar and spelling. Preference will be given to those who are bilingual in English and Spanish. This position requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate via E-mail and reports.

Moderate level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and internet search engines.
-
Mathematical proficiency as it relates to basic accounting, geometry, algebra, and mathematics.

Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating a truck, lifting up to 50 pounds

Work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind.
